Continuous Insulation: How to Do It Right, Save Energy, and Improve Durability

Continuous insulation (CI) can improve durability and energy use for rainscreen designs. So why doesn’t everyone use it? This presentation will look at perceived and actual obstacles to correctly using CI, and will show you how to do it right. We will draw on laboratory research, field testing, and case studies of real buildings. Several options for insulation will be explored, including non-combustible materials (mineral wool) and combustible materials (spray foam , XPS). Questions encouraged.
