Introduction to Air Beam and Air Cushion Structures

Air Beams use sealed fabric pretensioned by inflation internal to each member. This frees them from the form constraints of single layer fabric structures, and from the operational constraints of other inflated structure types. They deploy easily and quickly, and have an attractive price point.

Anthony Spick, PEO, APEGBC, LEED Ap

Senior Associate, Blackwell Structural Engineers

Anthony joined Blackwell in 2001 and became an associate in 2008. He has particular expertise in adaptive reuse and new or unconventional materials and systems including; wood gridshells, structural glass, earthen structure, and plastered straw bale.
Anthony has served as adjunct professor in the faculty of Architecture at the University of Toronto and has been a frequent guest lecturer on Natural Building Structure at Fleming College. He is a LEED-accredited professional and a licensed Professional Engineer in the Provinces of Ontario and British Columbia.
