Lunch & Learn: Thermal & Condensation Performance of EIFS

NBC and OBC recently adopted changes to Parts 5 and 9 to address the use of EIFS, mandating compliance to ULC-S716 and the requirements of GDDC (Geometrically Defined Drainage Cavity) EIFS for Part 9 buildings.  Despite this, the question of thermal performance and “risk of condensation” of EIFS remains.

The session presents the findings of an independent, intensive thermal performance analysis of “flat EPS” EIFS vs. GDDC EIFS.  It evaluates the requirements of Table 9.25.5.2 to address the “risk of condensation” and concludes with requirements based on geographical designated temperatures.
