Navigating the Changing Media Landscape

This one and a half-hour session will give attendees a basic understanding of new and social media for architects. We will begin with an overview of traditional media (books, magazines, newspapers) and examine how they differ from online platforms such as ArchDaily, Dezeen and Architizer, as well as social channels -- such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to name a few. We will take a look at some examples of how architects are using social media for self-promotion, as a means of contributing to a broader dialogue about what makes a good experience, and as a means to cultivate new relationships with prospective clients and employees. Through this session, participants will sharpen their knowledge about new media and gain some insights into how they might cultivate an effective media strategy for their own practice.
