When completed in Spring 2017, the 18 storey UBC Brock Commons Student Residence will be the tallest contemporary mass wood building in the world. The recent 21st century phenomenon of modern tall wood buildings has been made possible through the development of engineered wood products which, when innovatively combined with traditional structural and fire science know-how, has the potential to support carbon emission reduction initiatives through practical application of the art of the craft of tall timber construction.
