Claims: An Overview for Architects

This presentation will provide an overview of contract law as it pertains to developing a project and provide insight into claims against architects and how they can manage their risk/liability through insurance coverage and by limiting exposure. The presentation will also outline forums for dispute resolution, including alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and court proceedings. As an added bonus, the session will also discuss construction liens and how potential changes to Construction Lien Legislation will impact architects

Bernie McGarva

John Hackett is Vice-President, Practice Risk Management for Pro-Demnity Insurance Company. In that role he counsels Ontario architects on questions about insurance and liability concerns. He serves as moderator for many Pro-Demnity Loss Prevention Events.
