Passive House construction offers opportunities for exemplary thermal control and indoor environmental quality. As the current building code enclosure requirements exceed the point where the next increment of insulation pays for itself in energy savings, the Passive House approach provides progressive guidance for setting enclosure performance targets.
This lecture will present three current Passive House projects, one just completed and two under construction, showing how design decisions, documentation, building science and construction technology are applied. The projects illustrate Passive House concepts, and strategies for compliance, as well as a range of regionally appropriate solutions, materials, and technologies for high-performance buildings.
