Help! ... I'm obliged to separate my EUIs from my GHGs

This session will provide an up-to-the-minute overview of emerging regulations, made in the name of Climate change mitigation, that are likely to influence design goals in Canada, in the near future. We will compare the relevance to and potential impact upon Architects of programs like Ontario’s “Cap and trade”, energy benchmarking regulations such as New York City’s Local Law 84, and the fundamental requirements of the Canadian Codes. Participants will work on simple exercises to benchmark the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy-use intensity (EUI) of typical new construction projects in various Canadian locations.
